My birth state of Ohio passed, in Nov 2004, a comprehensive ban on not only "gay marriage," but also a ban on any union of two people, of whatever gender, who do not possess a valid marriage license.
It is a simple instance of well-meaning people writing bigotry into a state constitution in the name of God.
I think God is not pleased.
